Overview

LIPO-102 is an investigational fixed-dose aqueous injectable combination of **salmeterol xinafoate** and **fluticasone propionate**, originally developed by Lithera and subsequently by Neothetics for localized reduction of pathological or diet- and exercise-resistant fat deposits. Salmeterol is a selective long-acting beta-2 adrenergic receptor agonist intended to stimulate adipocyte lipolysis and reduce fat-cell volume, while fluticasone propionate is a glucocorticoid receptor agonist included to mitigate local inflammatory effects. Clinical development included Phase 2 studies in subcutaneous abdominal adiposity and symptomatic exophthalmos associated with thyroid-related eye disease.
