LIPO-4 is an HIV-1 vaccine candidate consisting of four synthetic lipopeptides derived from the Gag, Pol, RT, and Nef proteins of HIV-1. Developed by the French National Agency for Research on AIDS and Viral Hepatitis (ANRS), the vaccine utilizes lipopeptide technology where peptides are covalently linked to a lipid tail (palmitoyl-lysyl) to enhance uptake by antigen-presenting cells and stimulate robust T-cell mediated immunity. The vaccine is designed to induce HIV-specific CD4+ and CD8+ T-cell responses. It has been evaluated in Phase I clinical trials (such as ANRS VAC16) comparing intramuscular and intradermal administration routes in healthy volunteers.
