Overview

This is an experimental combination of two agents used primarily in preclinical research: - **Lipopolysaccharide (LPS)** is a component of the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria and acts as a potent endotoxin. It is widely used in animal models to induce systemic inflammation, sepsis, neuroinflammation, or organ dysfunction by triggering strong immune responses and the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines. - **Aminoguanidine** is a selective inhibitor of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS). By inhibiting iNOS, aminoguanidine reduces excessive nitric oxide (NO) production associated with inflammatory processes. In combination, LPS induces pathological changes such as memory impairment, kidney dysfunction, oxidative stress, and increased cytokine production. Aminoguanidine co-administration has been shown to attenuate these effects by suppressing NO overproduction and reducing oxidative damage and inflammation. This combination is mainly used in animal studies to investigate mechanisms underlying sepsis or inflammatory organ injury and to evaluate the protective effects of iNOS inhibition[1][2][3][6][8][9].
