Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lipoprostaglandin E1 is a liposome-encapsulated form of prostaglandin E1 (PGE1). It functions as a potent vasodilator with antiplatelet, anti-inflammatory, and anti-thrombotic properties. The liposomal formulation improves the drug's pharmacokinetics and therapeutic index compared to conventional PGE1, allowing for efficacy at lower doses with fewer adverse effects. It efficiently accumulates in vascular lesions of nervous tissue and has been shown to prevent apoptotic cell death.
