Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Liposomal eribulin mesylate (E7389-LF) is a novel formulation that encapsulates the halichondrin-class microtubule dynamics inhibitor eribulin in liposomes. This formulation is designed to enhance drug delivery to tumor tissues through Enhanced Permeability and Retention (EPR) effects. In tumor tissue, gaps exist among vascular endothelial cells due to incomplete vasculature, allowing for penetration by macromolecules like liposomal formulations. This, combined with incomplete lymphatic function, enables higher concentration of eribulin in tumor tissues compared to normal tissue. E7389-LF has shown immunomodulatory properties and vascular remodeling activity in clinical studies, particularly when combined with immune checkpoint inhibitors like nivolumab.
