Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lipsofer is a liposomal iron supplement developed by Rowez Life Sciences, primarily indicated for the prevention and treatment of iron deficiency and iron deficiency anemia, particularly in pediatric populations. The product utilizes liposomal technology to encapsulate iron pyrophosphate, which significantly enhances the oral bioavailability of iron by facilitating its absorption through the intestinal M-cells and the lymphatic system. This delivery mechanism also protects the gastric mucosa from direct contact with iron, thereby minimizing common gastrointestinal side effects such as metallic taste, gastric irritation, and constipation that are frequently associated with traditional oral iron salts. By providing a highly bioavailable source of elemental iron, Lipsofer supports the synthesis of hemoglobin and the replenishment of systemic iron stores.
