Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Liposomal latanoprost is a sustained-release formulation of latanoprost, a prostaglandin F2α analog used to treat glaucoma and ocular hypertension. The drug is encapsulated in liposomes (phospholipid vesicles) that allow for extended release over time. This formulation significantly increases ocular bioavailability and extends the duration of IOP-lowering effects compared to conventional latanoprost eye drops. When administered via subconjunctival injection, it can maintain therapeutic effects for up to 50 days, compared to daily administration required for traditional eye drops.
