Lipovaxin-MM is a multi-component dendritic cell-targeted liposomal vaccine designed as an immunostimulant therapeutic vaccine for malignant melanoma. It consists of liposome-encapsulated melanoma antigens derived from membrane vesicles of melanoma cells combined with a DC-SIGN specific domain antibody to target dendritic cells (DCs). The formulation also includes the cytokine interferon gamma (IFN-gamma) to stimulate DC maturation and enhance immune response. By delivering both antigenic material and stimulatory signals simultaneously to dendritic cells, it aims to induce a potent T-cell mediated anti-tumor immune response against metastatic melanoma. Developed initially by Lipotek Pty Ltd and later in collaboration with GSK, it has undergone phase 1 clinical trials demonstrating safety and tolerability but limited immunogenicity so far[1][2][5][6].
