Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lipovitan D is a prominent energy drink and nutritional tonic developed and marketed by Taisho Pharmaceutical. Originally introduced in 1962, it is classified as a "designated quasi-drug" in Japan, a category for products with mild pharmacological actions. The formulation is a combination of 1,000 mg of taurine, 50 mg of anhydrous caffeine, and a complex of B vitamins including thiamine nitrate (B1), riboflavin sodium phosphate (B2), pyridoxine hydrochloride (B6), and nicotinamide, along with inositol. It is primarily indicated for the recovery from and prevention of physical fatigue, maintenance of physical strength and concentration, and as a nutritional supplement during illness, pregnancy, or lactation. The product functions by supporting the body's energy metabolism cycles and providing a central nervous system stimulant effect via caffeine.
