Lirioresinol B dimethyl ether (also known as yangambin) is a natural tetrahydrofurofuran-type lignan isolated from various medicinal plants, including *Magnolia fargesii*, *Magnolia biondii*, and *Ocotea duckei*. It exhibits a range of pharmacological activities, including anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, and antiallergic properties. Mechanistically, lirioresinol B dimethyl ether acts as a selective antagonist of the platelet-activating factor (PAF) receptor and inhibits voltage-gated calcium channels. It also suppresses the NF-κB and MAPK signaling pathways, leading to the downregulation of inflammatory mediators such as COX-2, iNOS, TNF-α, IL-6, and nitric oxide. Preclinical studies have demonstrated its potential in mitigating hepatic fibrosis, preventing hepatocellular carcinoma development, inhibiting breast cancer-mediated bone destruction, and reducing acute and chronic inflammatory responses.
