Lisaftoclax + cytarabine is an investigational combination regimen consisting of lisaftoclax (APG-2575), a selective small-molecule inhibitor of B-cell lymphoma 2 (BCL-2), and cytarabine, a pyrimidine nucleoside analog chemotherapy agent. Lisaftoclax functions by binding to BCL-2, thereby displacing pro-apoptotic proteins and inducing apoptosis in cancer cells that depend on BCL-2 for survival. Cytarabine interferes with DNA synthesis by being incorporated into DNA and inhibiting DNA polymerase. This combination is primarily being evaluated as a consolidation therapy for young adults with newly diagnosed intermediate- and high-risk acute myeloid leukemia (AML) who have achieved complete response following induction therapy.
