Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Lisofer** is an oral liposomal iron nutritional product used for iron replacement. In the non-dialysis chronic kidney disease anemia study conducted at Hassan II University Hospital in Fès, the evaluated Lisofer 30 formulation provided 30 mg liposomal ferric pyrophosphate plus 70 mg ascorbic acid daily. Ferric pyrophosphate is microencapsulated in a lipid-based delivery system intended to improve gastrointestinal tolerability and intestinal iron delivery; absorbed iron supports hemoglobin production and erythropoiesis. A randomized Phase 4 non-inferiority study compared this oral formulation with intravenous iron sucrose in patients with iron-deficiency anemia and non-dialysis chronic kidney disease.
