Overview

LIT-001 is a small-molecule, nonpeptide oxytocin receptor agonist that also acts as a mixed agonist/antagonist at vasopressin receptors. Developed as a brain-penetrant agent with improved pharmacokinetic properties compared to oxytocin, LIT-001 exhibits significant selectivity as an oxytocin receptor agonist, with partial agonist activity at the vasopressin V2 receptor and weak antagonist activity at the V1A receptor at high concentrations. It has been shown to alleviate social deficits in animal models of autism and schizophrenia, displaying pro-social and pro-cognitive effects. LIT-001 represents a notable lead compound for developing treatments for social disorders such as autism spectrum disorder[1][3][5][7][8][9][10].
