Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Liu Jun Zi Tang (Six Gentlemen Decoction) is a classical Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula traditionally used to strengthen the spleen, harmonize the stomach, and transform phlegm-dampness. It is a multi-component formulation typically consisting of six herbs: Panax ginseng (Ren Shen), Atractylodes macrocephala (Bai Zhu), Poria cocos (Fu Ling), Glycyrrhiza uralensis (Gan Cao), Citrus reticulata (Chen Pi), and Pinellia ternata (Ban Xia). In modern clinical research, it is being investigated by Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine for the treatment of prediabetes, specifically in patients exhibiting the spleen-deficiency phlegm-dampness syndrome. The formula is hypothesized to improve glucose metabolism and alleviate fatigue by addressing underlying metabolic imbalances and resolving dampness accumulation.
