Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Liugan Shuangjie Granules is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) hospital preparation developed by the Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of influenza and viral pneumonia, and it gained significant clinical prominence during the COVID-19 pandemic for the management of mild to moderate cases. The formulation is designed to clear heat, resolve toxins, and relieve exterior symptoms through a multi-component herbal approach. In early 2020, it was approved by the Guangdong Provincial Medical Products Administration as a medical institution preparation (医疗机构制剂), allowing its use within designated hospitals. Pharmacological studies suggest that the granules exert antiviral effects and modulate the host's inflammatory response by reducing the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines.
