Overview
Liushen Capsule is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) product based on the classic Liushen Wan formula, widely used in China for its potent anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and detoxifying properties. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of acute pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and other inflammatory conditions of the throat and skin. The formulation is a complex mixture of six traditional ingredients: *Venenum Bufonis* (toad venom), *Calculus Bovis* (ox gallstone), *Moschus* (musk), *Margarita* (pearl), *Borneolum Syntheticum* (borneol), and *Realgar* (arsenic sulfide). Its mechanism of action involves the inhibition of pro-inflammatory mediators and the modulation of sodium-potassium ATPase by bufadienolides, alongside antimicrobial activity provided by realgar. Modern clinical research, including real-world evidence studies, continues to validate its efficacy in managing throat pain and swelling.
