Overview
Liuteng Anji Decoction is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula developed by the Yancheng Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is specifically designed for the treatment of ankylosing spondylitis (AS), particularly for patients diagnosed with the TCM syndrome of kidney deficiency and blood stasis. The formula is characterized by the inclusion of six medicinal vines (such as *Caulis Sinomenii*, *Caulis Spatholobi*, and *Caulis Lonicerae*), which are traditionally used to dispel wind, eliminate dampness, and unblock the meridians to alleviate spinal pain and stiffness. Pharmacologically, the decoction is thought to exert anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects by suppressing the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, including tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6), thereby reducing joint inflammation and slowing disease progression.
