Liuwei Dihuang capsule is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulation widely used to nourish kidney Yin and treat kidney Yin deficiency syndrome (also known as liver-kidney Yin deficiency). The formula is composed of six classic herbal ingredients: prepared Rehmannia root (Shu Di Huang), Asiatic Cornelian Cherry fruit (Shan Zhu Yu), Chinese Yam (Shan Yao), Water Plantain rhizome (Ze Xie), Tree Peony bark (Mu Dan Pi), and Poria (Fu Ling). It is commonly prescribed in China for symptoms such as dizziness, tinnitus, soreness and weakness of the waist and knees, night sweats, and hot flashes. Clinical trials, including N-of-1 randomized controlled trials, have been conducted to evaluate its efficacy and quality-of-life improvements in patients with TCM kidney Yin deficiency syndrome.
