Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LIV-001 (Livionex Band Keratopathy Eye Drops) is a topical ophthalmic solution currently in Phase 3 clinical development for the treatment of band keratopathy. Band keratopathy is a corneal disease characterized by the progressive accumulation of calcium deposits in the Bowman's layer, which can lead to significant vision loss, ocular irritation, and pain. LIV-001 utilizes a proprietary "activated" EDTA (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid) technology designed to enhance the penetration and chelation of these calcific deposits. The goal of the therapy is to provide a non-invasive, pharmacological alternative to the current standard of care, which typically involves surgical debridement of the corneal epithelium followed by manual chelation with EDTA.
