Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Liv.52 is a widely recognized polyherbal Ayurvedic formulation developed by the Himalaya Wellness Company. First launched in 1955, it is designed to support liver health, promote hepatocellular regeneration, and protect the hepatic parenchyma from toxins, alcohol, and drug-induced hepatotoxicity. The formulation consists of a synergistic blend of several key herbal ingredients, including Capparis spinosa (Caper Bush), Cichorium intybus (Chicory), Mandura bhasma (Iron oxide), Solanum nigrum (Black Nightshade), Terminalia arjuna (Arjuna), Cassia occidentalis (Kasamarda), Achillea millefolium (Yarrow), and Tamarix gallica (Tamarisk). Liv.52 exhibits potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory properties, helping to restore liver enzyme levels (such as ALT and AST), reduce lipid peroxidation, and improve appetite and digestion. It is clinically used as a supportive treatment for various hepatic disorders, including alcoholic liver disease, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), viral hepatitis, and drug-induced liver injury.
