Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A live attenuated vaccine used for the prevention of varicella (chickenpox) in children. It contains a weakened form of the varicella-zoster virus (VZV) to stimulate a protective immune response. This specific vaccine is being evaluated by the Shanghai Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention in a Phase 4 study to determine the optimal interval for a two-dose regimen (ranging from 3 months to 5 years) and to assess the safety and immunogenicity when co-administered with the MMR vaccine. The vaccine works by inducing both humoral and cell-mediated immune responses against VZV.
