Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Live double combined lactobacillus is a vaginal live biotherapeutic product (LBP) being developed by Guangdong Longchuangji Pharmaceutical for the treatment of bacterial vaginosis (BV). The formulation consists of two specific strains of live Lactobacillus bacteria delivered via a vaginal capsule. Its mechanism of action involves the restoration of the normal vaginal microflora, which is typically dominated by lactobacilli in healthy women. By colonizing the vaginal epithelium, these bacteria produce lactic acid to maintain an acidic pH and generate antimicrobial substances like hydrogen peroxide, thereby inhibiting the overgrowth of anaerobic pathogens such as Gardnerella vaginalis associated with BV.
