Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Liver Kidney Care is a polyherbal formulation developed and studied by Composite Interceptive Med Science, primarily for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B. The formulation is a combination of three standardized herbal extracts: *Phyllanthus niruri* (Bhumyamalaki), *Boerhaavia diffusa* (Punarnava), and *Picrorhiza kurroa* (Katuki). It is designed to provide both antiviral and hepatoprotective effects. The *Phyllanthus niruri* component is specifically noted for its ability to inhibit Hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA polymerase, thereby reducing viral replication. *Boerhaavia diffusa* and *Picrorhiza kurroa* contribute anti-inflammatory and hepatoprotective properties that help maintain liver and kidney function and protect against parenchymal damage. The drug has been evaluated in randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trials to assess its efficacy in reducing viral load and improving liver enzymes in inactive chronic Hepatitis B carriers.
