Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Liversol is a brand name associated with two distinct pharmacological preparations: a human hepatoprotective combination and a veterinary anthelmintic. In human medicine, Liversol typically refers to a formulation containing silymarin (a flavonolignan complex extracted from *Silybum marianum*) and a comprehensive B-vitamin complex (including B1, B2, B6, B12, niacinamide, and calcium pantothenate). This combination is indicated for the supportive treatment of chronic inflammatory liver diseases, liver cirrhosis, and toxic liver damage. Silymarin exerts its effect by stabilizing hepatocyte plasma membranes, acting as an antioxidant to neutralize reactive oxygen species, and stimulating RNA polymerase I to promote ribosomal protein synthesis and liver regeneration. In the veterinary context, Liversol is a widely used brand for levamisole hydrochloride, a synthetic imidazothiazole derivative used to treat gastrointestinal and lungworm infections in livestock and poultry. Levamisole acts as a nicotinic acetylcholine receptor agonist, inducing neuromuscular paralysis in parasites, and also possesses immunomodulatory properties in various species.
