Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lividomycin A is a broad-spectrum aminoglycoside antibiotic produced by Streptomyces lividus. It is effective against most Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The drug acts by binding to bacterial ribosomes and inhibiting protein synthesis, thereby exerting its antibacterial effects. Resistance to lividomycin develops more slowly in some bacteria compared to other aminoglycosides like kanamycin. It has shown efficacy in experimental infections with various bacteria, including strains resistant to other aminoglycosides[3][4][5].
