Livionex is a proprietary formulation based on the active compound edathamil (EDTA), developed as a metal ion chelator for multiple therapeutic applications. Its mechanism centers on modulating metal ions involved in disease pathways—specifically targeting inflammation, biofilm formation, and lipid-protein aggregates. In oral care (as LIVFRESH/Livionex dental gel), it disrupts dental biofilm by chelating calcium within the plaque matrix to prevent its adhesion and maturation. In ophthalmology (as C-KAD eye drop), it is being developed as a 2.6% EDTA ophthalmic solution to treat early-to-moderate cataracts by penetrating the lens and reducing clouding through chelation of lens-bound metals that contribute to opacification.
