LIVP-IL15Ra-RFP is a recombinant oncolytic vaccinia virus derived from the Lister-Institute-Vnukovo-Poliomyelitis (LIVP) strain. It is engineered to express the alpha subunit of the interleukin-15 receptor (IL-15Rα) and a red fluorescent protein (RFP) reporter. The virus is designed to selectively infect and lyse cancer cells while delivering IL-15Rα to the tumor microenvironment. IL-15Rα is a high-affinity receptor that facilitates the trans-presentation of IL-15 to immune cells, such as cytotoxic T cells and natural killer (NK) cells, thereby enhancing their activation and anti-tumor activity. This agent is often used in combination with IL-15-expressing viruses to promote the formation of the IL-15/IL-15Rα complex, which has been shown to elicit a synergistic immune response and tumor regression in preclinical models of breast and colon cancer.
