Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Livrite is an oral, fixed-dose combination nutraceutical product developed by Medley Pharmaceuticals for the support of liver health and the management of various liver disorders. It contains four active ingredients: silymarin (a botanical extract from milk thistle), selenomethionine (a bioavailable source of selenium), alpha lipoic acid, and N-acetylcysteine. Together, these components provide synergistic hepatoprotective, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory effects. Silymarin helps protect liver cell membranes and stimulates ribosomal RNA synthesis, while N-acetylcysteine acts as a precursor to glutathione, a critical endogenous antioxidant. Alpha lipoic acid serves as a mitochondrial cofactor and regenerates other antioxidants, and selenomethionine supports the activity of selenium-dependent antioxidant enzymes like glutathione peroxidase. Livrite is approved and marketed as a dietary supplement for conditions such as alcoholic and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, cirrhosis, jaundice, and general liver detoxification.
