Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lixu Jieyu Fang (LJR) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal decoction used for the treatment of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS). The formula is a combination of eight herbs: milkvetch root (*Astragalus membranaceus*), kudzuvine root (*Pueraria lobata*), asiabell root (*Codonopsis pilosula*), red sage root (*Salvia miltiorrhiza*), aizoon stonecrop (*Sedum aizoon*), epimedium herb (*Epimedium brevicornu*), curcuma root (*Curcuma longa*), and grassleaved sweetflag rhizome (*Acorus tatarinowii*). It is prepared as a 200 mL decoction and administered orally. Its therapeutic effect is attributed to its ability to modulate the immune system, specifically by regulating serum immunoglobulin levels (IgG, IgA, IgM, IgE) and balancing T-lymphocyte subsets (CD4/CD8 ratio). Clinical research in China, including a randomized study of 75 patients, has indicated its potential to alleviate both physical and mental fatigue associated with CFS.
