Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LK-02 is a mesenchymal stromal cell (MSC)-based cell therapy being developed by LiveKidney.Bio for the treatment of kidney disease in patients with metabolic syndrome. The therapy utilizes proprietary hydrogel-based formulations of umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stromal cells (UC-MSCs) designed for the continuous release of therapeutic bioactive compounds. LK-02 is administered via a unique route of injection into the perirenal adipose tissue (PRAT). The mechanism of action involves modulating the immune system, reducing inflammation and fibrosis, and improving mitochondrial activity to enhance kidney function and address hallmarks of aging.
