LL-37 cream

LL-37 cream is a topical biologic therapy containing the human cathelicidin antimicrobial peptide LL-37. Developed by the Faculty of Medicine at Universitas Indonesia (Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Indonesia), it is being investigated for the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers (DFU). LL-37 is a naturally occurring peptide that exhibits broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity and promotes wound healing by inducing angiogenesis and the migration and proliferation of keratinocytes. In clinical studies, the 0.5 mg/mL cream formulation has been evaluated for its ability to reduce bacterial colonization, decrease inflammatory markers like IL-1α and TNF-α, and improve the healing rate of uncomplicated DFUs.
