LLP3 is a novel small molecule inhibitor designed to target the dimerization of survivin (BIRC5), a member of the inhibitor-of-apoptosis (IAP) protein family. Survivin is frequently upregulated in therapy-resistant and recurrent glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) and plays a critical role in regulating mitosis and inhibiting apoptosis. By preventing survivin dimerization, which is essential for its biological function, LLP3 arrests tumor cell growth and induces apoptosis. Developed by researchers at Ohio State University, LLP3 has demonstrated efficacy in patient-derived tumor spheres and surgical tissue explants, showing potential as a therapeutic strategy for resistant recurrent glioma.
