LLX-424 is an orally administered **small molecule glycolate oxidase inhibitor** being developed by Lilac Therapeutics for the prevention of recurrent **calcium oxalate kidney stones**. By inhibiting glycolate oxidase in the liver, LLX-424 reduces the production of oxalate, a major factor in stone formation. Lowering urinary oxalate levels is intended to decrease the risk of new stone development. The drug is in **Phase 2 clinical trials** for patients with a history of kidney stones, with a clinical development program also considering related conditions caused by excess oxalate such as chronic kidney disease and kidney allograft rejection.
