Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LM-001 is a nanoparticle-based formulation of the cytotoxic agent paclitaxel, developed by LipoMedics. It utilizes a proprietary nanoparticle delivery system to improve the solubility and pharmacokinetic profile of paclitaxel, a microtubule stabilizer that inhibits cell division. In July 2016, LipoMedics licensed the sales and distribution rights for LM-001 in China to Hunan Fangsheng Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. The product is described as an earlier candidate in LipoMedics' pipeline, suggesting it may be a predecessor to their newer nanoparticle platforms. While the licensing agreement implies a stage of development ready for commercialization in the Chinese market, formal clinical phase data for specific indications has not been widely disclosed.
