LMB-1

LMB-1 is an experimental immunotoxin composed of a monoclonal antibody (B3) chemically linked to PE38, a genetically engineered form of Pseudomonas exotoxin. The B3 antibody targets the Lewis Y (LeY) carbohydrate antigen, which is present on many human solid tumors. Upon binding to tumor cells expressing LeY, the exotoxin component inhibits protein synthesis within the cell, leading to cell death. LMB-1 has demonstrated antitumor activity in preclinical models and was evaluated in phase I and II clinical trials for advanced solid tumors such as breast and colon cancer. The primary toxicity observed was vascular leak syndrome[5][2][1].
