LMCD1-AS1 siRNA is an experimental small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to silence the long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) LMCD1-AS1. Research indicates that LMCD1-AS1 is a critical driver of resistance to multikinase inhibitors (MKIs), such as sorafenib and lenvatinib, in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). LMCD1-AS1 functions by interacting with the histone demethylase PHF8, which leads to the epigenetic activation of oncogenes like c-Myc and β-catenin and the upregulation of lactate dehydrogenase A (LDHA). This process establishes a protumorigenic metabolic state and suppresses apoptosis. By knocking down LMCD1-AS1, the siRNA restores sensitivity to MKI therapy and attenuates tumor growth in preclinical HCC models.
