Overview

LMNL6511 is a highly potent, selective small molecule antagonist of the G-protein coupled receptor 84 (GPR84), developed by Liminal BioSciences. GPR84 is broadly expressed and implicated in the regulation of inflammation, fibrosis, obesity, and diabetes. Antagonism of GPR84 has shown potential therapeutic benefit in preclinical models for fibrotic diseases such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), chronic kidney disease, interstitial nephritis, and renal fibrosis. LMNL6511 was nominated as a clinical candidate in January 2023 after demonstrating over 30-fold greater potency than the first clinical GPR84 antagonist GLPG1205. The drug has completed a first-in-human Phase 1 trial evaluating safety and pharmacokinetics and is currently being studied in a Phase 1b multiple dose placebo-controlled trial in healthy volunteers[2][5][8].
