LMP1 CAR-T refers to T lymphocytes genetically engineered to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) that specifically recognizes latent membrane protein 1 (LMP1), a tumor-associated antigen expressed in Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-positive cancers such as nasopharyngeal carcinoma and Hodgkin lymphoma. The CAR typically contains an anti-LMP1 single-chain variable fragment (scFv), costimulatory signals (e.g., CD28), and a CD3ζ signaling domain. Once infused, these modified T cells can selectively target and kill LMP1-expressing tumor cells through immune-mediated cytotoxicity and cytokine release. LMP1 CAR-T therapy is an example of adoptive T cell therapy and is under investigation as a potential treatment for LMP1-positive infectious diseases and hematologic malignancies.
