Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LN016 is a sustained-release gel formulation of the local anesthetic bupivacaine (specifically bupivacaine hydrochloride) developed by Shanghai Huiyong Pharmaceutical. It is designed for local instillation into surgical wounds to provide prolonged postoperative analgesia. By utilizing a sustained-release gel delivery system (incorporating the novel excipient EN001), LN016 slowly releases bupivacaine at the surgical site, blocking voltage-gated sodium channels on local nerve fibers to prevent the generation and conduction of pain signals. It is currently in Phase 2 clinical development in China for postoperative pain management following surgeries such as inguinal hernia repair and abdominal procedures.
