Overview

Locked Nucleic Acid anti-miR-19b-3p (LNA-anti-miR-19b-3p) is a synthetic antisense oligonucleotide designed to specifically inhibit the microRNA miR-19b-3p. It incorporates Locked Nucleic Acid (LNA) modifications, which enhance binding affinity and nuclease resistance, thereby improving the in vivo stability and efficacy of the inhibitor. The therapeutic rationale is to block the function of miR-19b-3p, which is implicated in processes such as oncogenesis, regulation of cell proliferation, apoptosis, inflammation, and tissue fibrosis. In preclinical studies, LNA-anti-miR-19b-3p has shown the ability to impair STAT3 pathway signaling and downstream targets including cyclin D1, Bcl-2, and Mcl-1 in cancer cells, mitigate pulmonary endothelial damage in hemorrhagic shock, and reduce inflammation in viral encephalitis models. The construct is typically administered as a short, single-stranded LNA-modified oligonucleotide optimized for high affinity and stability. The compound is used experimentally in animal models, notably in studies exploring its therapeutic effects in cancer, inflammatory, and fibrotic diseases.[1][3][5][8]
