The LNA-miR-182-5p inhibitor is a research-stage antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) that utilizes locked nucleic acid (LNA) chemistry to specifically bind and inhibit the activity of microRNA-182-5p (miR-182-5p). LNA technology incorporates a methylene bridge between the 2-oxygen and 4-carbon of the ribose ring, which locks the sugar in a C3-endo conformation, significantly increasing binding affinity and stability against enzymatic degradation. miR-182-5p is an oncogenic microRNA (oncomiR) that promotes cell proliferation and survival by downregulating tumor suppressors such as CASP9 and CEBPα. Inhibition of miR-182-5p has been investigated in preclinical models of breast cancer, acute promyelocytic leukemia, and ischemic acute kidney injury to induce apoptosis and restore normal cellular function.
