Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LNC-docetaxel is an investigational oral formulation of the chemotherapeutic agent docetaxel, encapsulated within lipid nanocrystals (LNCs). This novel delivery system is designed to improve the safety and efficacy profile of conventional intravenous (IV) docetaxel by enabling targeted tumor delivery and reducing systemic toxicity. Docetaxel itself is a taxane that acts as an antineoplastic agent by binding to tubulin and stabilizing microtubules, thereby inhibiting cell division through mitotic arrest. The unique phosphatidylserine composition of the LNCs allows for selective tumor targeting and efficient oral bioavailability. Preclinical studies in animal models have demonstrated that oral LNC-docetaxel achieves reductions in tumor size comparable to IV administration but with significantly reduced toxicity[5][6][7].
