Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LNC-remdesivir is a **formulation of remdesivir that utilizes lipid nanoparticle (LNC) technology for drug delivery**. This modified version is designed to enhance the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties of remdesivir, a nucleoside analog antiviral that inhibits viral RNA-dependent RNA polymerase, thereby blocking viral RNA synthesis and replication. The base compound, remdesivir, is approved for the treatment of COVID-19 and acts by incorporating into viral RNA chains and causing delayed chain termination. The use of lipid nanoparticles as a delivery vehicle aims to improve tissue targeting, bioavailability, and possibly to enable non-intravenous administration routes. As a novel formulation, LNC-remdesivir may be under investigation and not yet approved for clinical use.
