Overview

LNC-TNFalpha oligonucleotide is an experimental therapeutic formulation consisting of a lipid nanocapsule (LNC) delivery system loaded with an oligonucleotide, typically a small interfering RNA (siRNA), designed to silence the expression of Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha (TNF-α). The LNC platform, characterized by a lipophilic core and a surfactant shell, provides a stable environment for the fragile genetic material, protecting it from nuclease-mediated degradation and facilitating intracellular delivery. By targeting the mRNA of TNF-α, the drug inhibits the production of this key pro-inflammatory cytokine, which plays a central role in the pathogenesis of various autoimmune and inflammatory disorders. Preclinical studies have explored its application in treating conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and skin inflammation, demonstrating its potential to modulate immune responses locally or systemically.
