Drug intelligence / Profile preview
lncRNA 585189 inhibitor refers to preclinical therapeutic agents, such as small interfering RNAs (siRNAs) or antisense oligonucleotides, designed to target and silence the long non-coding RNA ENST00000585189.1 (lncRNA 585189). Upregulated in patients with diabetic nephropathy (DN) and high-glucose-induced human podocytes, lncRNA 585189 physically interacts with and destabilizes the heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein A1 (hnRNP A1) protein. This destabilization downregulates hnRNP A1, which in turn reduces the stability and expression of Sirtuin 1 (SIRT1) mRNA. By inhibiting lncRNA 585189, these inhibitors restore hnRNP A1 and SIRT1 levels, thereby decreasing reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, rescuing mitochondrial morphology and membrane potential, and preventing podocyte injury. This approach represents a promising preclinical strategy for the treatment of diabetic nephropathy.
