LNP-RABVsaRNA-01 is an investigational self-amplifying RNA (saRNA) vaccine developed by Imperial College London for the prevention of rabies. It consists of a self-amplifying RNA transcript encoding the rabies virus glycoprotein (RABV-G) encapsulated within lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) for intramuscular delivery. As a saRNA vaccine, it utilizes an alphavirus-derived replicon that allows the RNA to replicate itself within host cells, potentially enabling the induction of protective immune responses at significantly lower doses compared to conventional mRNA vaccines. The vaccine is currently being evaluated in the Phase I RAB-Vac clinical trial to assess its safety and immunogenicity in healthy adult volunteers.
