LNR 653.1 is a fully humanized, bifunctional monoclonal antibody developed by Lanier Biotherapeutics for the treatment of retinal neovascularization diseases such as wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic macular edema, and retinal vein occlusion, as well as for psoriasis[1][2][4][5]. The drug is designed to combine anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) activity—similar to aflibercept—with anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptotic effects through interleukin-17A (IL-17A) inhibition, akin to secukinumab[1][2][5]. By targeting both VEGF-A and IL-17A pathways, LNR 653.1 aims to address both pathological angiogenesis and inflammation in these diseases[3][4]. Preclinical data suggest efficacy comparable or superior to aflibercept with additional benefits from IL-17A blockade[1][2].
