Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lo-medus is a polyherbal Ayurvedic formulation developed by AVN Ayurveda Formulations for the management of lipid disorders and cardiovascular health. It is composed of several traditional medicinal plants, including Commiphora mukul (Guggulu), Tinospora cordifolia (Amruta), and Pterocarpus marsupium (Asana), along with incinerated iron (Loha bhasma). The formulation is primarily indicated for hyperlipidemia, hypercholesterolemia, dyslipidemia, atherosclerosis, and obesity. Its mechanism of action involves regulating lipid levels through FXR (farnesoid X receptor)-mediated enhanced bile acid clearance, increasing HDL cholesterol, and providing antioxidant effects to prevent lipid peroxidation and reduce blood viscosity.
