Overview

Lobredimil is a synthetic small molecule drug that acts as a bradykinin B2 receptor antagonist. It was developed primarily for its potential to reduce cerebral edema and improve outcomes in patients with brain tumors or traumatic brain injury by inhibiting the effects of bradykinin, a peptide involved in increasing vascular permeability and promoting inflammation. Lobredimil blocks the bradykinin B2 receptor, thereby reducing blood-brain barrier permeability and limiting fluid accumulation in the brain. The drug was investigated in clinical trials but development appears to have been discontinued.
