Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Lodient** is a fixed-dose combination tablet containing telmisartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), and S-amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker (CCB), used for the treatment of hypertension. It combines the blood pressure-lowering effects of telmisartan, which selectively blocks the angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptor to inhibit vasoconstriction and aldosterone release, with S-amlodipine, the active enantiomer of amlodipine that inhibits L-type calcium channels in vascular smooth muscle to promote vasodilation. Available as an 80/2.5 mg formulation (telmisartan/S-amlodipine), it is prescribed to patients requiring dual therapy for better blood pressure control, with ongoing observational studies evaluating its prescription patterns and efficacy in reducing hypertension symptoms.[5][9][10][11]
